Not in the Garden December 2017

When it's very cold, snowy, windy and wet in the garden, I love the flowers on my houseplants. These are mostly orchids. In another role I was in touch with an orchid expert, Isobyl La Croix, a world-renowned botanist specialising in orchids. She kindly gave me some growing tips when, some years ago, I was researching orchids used in ceramic design.

I manage now to get my various windowledge-grown phalaenopsis into flower each year and am very proud, and a little smug, that I manage to do this! It still amazes me that the flowers can last 6 months.
